Today Forrester Research released The Forrester Wave™: Privileged Identity Management, Q4 20181. Evaluating 11 vendors, Forrester named Centrify a Leader.

Here at Centrify, we believe this is a strong validation of Centrify’s Zero Trust Privilege approach to privileged identity management. A complimentary version of this report is available for download here.

Centrify is redefining the legacy approach to Privileged Identity Management by delivering cloud-ready Zero Trust Privilege to secure modern enterprise use cases. Zero Trust Privilege mandates a “never trust, always verify, enforce least privilege” approach. Centrify Zero Trust Privilege helps customers grant least privilege access based on verifying who is requesting access, the context of the request, and the risk of the access environment.

“Forrester estimates that at least 80% of data breaches have a connection to compromised privileged credentials, such as passwords, tokens, keys, and certificates.” – The Forrester Wave™: Privileged Identity Management, Q4 2018

For this PIM report, Forrester evaluated 11 top vendors against 35 criteria, which were grouped into three categories including current offering, strategy and market presence. Centrify received the highest possible score in 17 of the 35 evaluation criteria including Privileged Password Safe/Vault, Privileged Session Management, Privilege Delegation and Escalation, Cloud and DevOps Support, SaaS Solution Maturity, and Privileged Threat Analytics Plans. We this is great recognition of the strong functionality our customers can expect.

The PIM market is growing because more security professionals see PIM as a way to address their top security challenges. This market growth is in large part due to security pros increasingly trusting PIM suite solution providers to act as strategic partners, advising them on top PIM decisions.” – The Forrester Wave™: Privileged Identity Management, Q4 2018

The report states that Centrify “offers a relatively mature SaaS and customer-managed PIM offering, privileged session management capabilities, and robust endpoint privileges delegation support, and extensive privilege analytics.”

We emphasize that Centrify was the first to offer PIM-as-a-Service with flexible deployment offerings to also be customer-managed in your own datacenter. Centrify continues to be the only true cloud-architected, multi-tenant PIM offering on the market today.

According to Forrester, Centrify’s, “support for cloud and DevOps is also strong.” These new attack vectors, along with others like Big Data, containers and microservices require that customers adapt from legacy PAM to new cloud-ready Zero Trust Privilege.

“As password vaulting and session management technology mature and become less effective at thwarting threats, improved privileged behavior and threat analytics will dictate which providers will lead the pack. Vendors that provide cloud and container secret management and continuous improvement and delivery platform integration position themselves to deliver effective privilege threat mitigation and DevOps secret management to their customers.” – The Forrester Wave™: Privileged Identity Management, Q4 2018

Not only has the attack surface changed, but so have the attackers. We now all live in a world of Advanced Persistent Threats (APTs) that create a growing and changing risk to organizations’ financial assets, intellectual property and reputations. Expanding access and obtaining credentials is an essential part of most APTs, with privileged access being the crown jewels. Hackers no longer hack in; they simply login…with compromised credentials.
